Youth Academy Program Mission
The Youth Academy Program accepts players from 6 to 10 years old. All players, space allowing, will be accepted. No player will be "cut" from the program. The Youth Academy Program is designed for player develoopment. Form the pool of U9 and U10 players who register, teams will be selected to play (8v8 games) in the U10 age bracket in the MAPLE soccer league. Players interested in playing on this MAPLE team must attend at least one tryout session. The selection of players for the MAPLE teams will come exclusively from the players registered in the Youth Academy Program. Those interested in playing in the MAPLE league should contact the Youth Academy Program Director, Michael Rugnetta.
Players are put into a fun, competitive, safe environment where they will learn to make decisions and solve probelms on their own during games. The training is very efficient, encompassing all four components of soccer (technical, tactical, psychological and physical) in every session. Players are broken up into training groups at close to a 1-10 coach to player ratio based on age and ability. Everyone is invited, no cuts are made, in an attempt to improve every youth players to their maximum potential, and at their own individual pace. Players are encouraged to be creative and think on the fied for themselves, an invaluable life skill, even after soccer.
The primary focus at this level is the development of fundamental skills in a fun environment with the beginnings of structured team play. Staffed by uniquely qualified coaches, these young athletes learn the basics of the game and are introduced to playing small sided games to maximize touches and involvement in the game. The goal of this program is to prepare the athlete for the Junior Program and full participation in the Mass Premier League (MAPLE). Developing players from the youngest ages is New England FC's priorty, and ensures the longevity of the club as a leader in youth development in New England.
